Welcome

Welcome to Adventures in Reading!

Hello everyone! My name is Jacqui McGuire-Day and this is the first blog that I've ever created.  I am excited to use it as I learn techniques and skills to become a school librarian.

I fell in love with this background as soon as I saw it.  I think it is perfect for my blog because I love the energy of the design and the colors.  The font that I chose for the text is Open Sans, a sans serif font, because Reynolds (2014) states that serif fonts "work better on computer screens as they lack the counter strokes and thin lines of serif typefaces that can be hard to read at low resolutions" (p. 40).  The font I chose for the title is Droid sans.  I wanted to create harmony by using typefaces from the same sans serif font family for the both title and text (Reynolds, 2014).  I chose a dark brown color for the title because I wanted it to stand out.

Enjoy, and I look forward to many discussions to come!
